WhatsApp Worth 19 Billion Dollars for Facebook: The Facebook yesterday made its largest investment ever in acquiring companies to buy WhatsApp for an incredible $19 billion dollars.
This is an impressive amount for any company , especially if we are talking about a company that is only on the market for about 5 years.
What is WhatsApp? WhatsApp is a mobile messaging service that functions as a kind of a social network.
WhatsApp users can send messages to one or many recipients at the same time, and they can even share their locations.
The transaction will be made in 3 installments , with $ 16 billion paid in cash and shares of Facebook and the remaining $3 billion in restricted shares for staff of WhatsApp .
Mark Zuckerberg said in an official statement that the intention of this acquisition will not integrate WhatsApp service on the Facebook platform, but rather explore the giant user base and further develop the brand WhatsApp , as happened with Instagram.
WhatsApp has over 450 million registered users ( Facebook Messenger has only 53 million ) and this number is added about 1 million users per day.
Even more impressive than the number of registered users is the fact that 70 % of these users are active every day.
” We are very excited and honored on becoming partners Mark ( Zuckerberg ) and Facebook as we continue to bring our product to more people around the world ,” said Jan Koum – one of the founders and CEO of WhatsApp.
