Blogger Alex Au Issued Apology Statement: SINGAPORE: Blogger Alex Au has apologized for ”false and baseless allegations” to SG Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for comments deemed as defamatory about the sale of computer systems used by town councils in his blog post, “PAP mis-AIMed, faces blowback“.
He also took down the post and comments that had been highlighted in the lawyer’s letter.
Mr Au had on Friday said that he accepts that the post and comments were defamatory. But he went on to add that the episode “should not distract from the issue of the sale of town council software to Action Information Management“.
He added, however, that news of the legal action “should not distract from the issue of the sale of town council software to Action Information Management“.
“From what has been disclosed so far, reasonable people would have many questions, and while news of me getting a lawyer’s letter might be temporarily more ‘newsy’, it is more important for Singapore that these questions be answered, not avoided,” he wrote.
The article in question has also been taken down.
