World of Sport Long jumper’s ‘Superman’ Moment Goes Wrong: Everybody knows that the Long jumpers spend their lives most important time (young age) trying to defy gravity but one budding American athlete put a little too much faith in his ability to do so at a recent event.
He looked the part, did a great job of getting the crowd behind him, got off to a decent-looking run-up… and then this happened. This US athlete was left with egg on his face – and plenty of sand too – after this attempt.
Perhaps the pressure got to the as-yet-unidentified athlete: with the US Olympic trials looming in June, he must have been aware that he needed a ‘Superman’ moment to make the team.
It’s just a shame that he took that idea a smidgin too literally. via Yahoo
